Wooden Row Boat Kit - Plywood Wherry
Wooden rowing boat - Plywood Wherry

We call this boat a Wherry, which means a rowing boat for light loads intended for use in protected waters.  Designed for one person rowing, but you can bring a child or a dog along in protected waters.

This boat has a v bottom, a skeg, and  two planks per side.  Construction is stitch-and-glue. It is an easy boat to build.  The planks are butt spliced together and backed with fiberglass cloth before stitching up.  Thwarts are used in lieu of frames to further reduce building time.  This is a good project for the first time builder.

The pre-cut planks kit comes with instructions and a list of materials.  You should be able to buy everything you need at your local marine supply store or lumber yard.

Available as a kit only. Building plans are not available.
