New Alternative to
Conventional Paddling
(Quick! Bookmark this page
before you forget!)
The FrontRower is the new
different unusual alternative to conventional traditional normal
type paddling.
There are lots of variations
in paddles (single blade, double blade, wood, composite, narrow, wide,
bent, straight, asymmetrical, spooned). These variations make some
of them better than others for certain purposes. But all normal type
paddles have three things in common:
-
You hold them in your hands,
rather than, lets say, something like oarlocks. And this
means that you don't have the mechanical advantage of a lever.
-
You only have one blade
in the water at a time. And this makes your boat want to turn,
even though you may want to go straight.
-
You don't get to use of your
large leg muscles. This cuts down on the amount of power you
can generate easily. And it affects the quality of the exercise—if
that's what your after.
If you're using your canoe
or kayak for the purpose it was intended, your paddles are probably just
right and everybody is happy.
But if you want to use it
for something like full body exercise (including your legs) or you
want to develop more power more easily for something like carrying
passengers or traveling upstream, then the new different
unusual FrontRower might be just what you're
looking for.
Note: Many canoes make
great rowing boats, most kayaks do not (not enough room).
